An A3 printer is much larger than an A4 printer and is designed with paper trays and dimensions designed for handling a maximum paper size of A3 as well as smaller ones. It is faster than an A4 printer, capable of handling larger volumes and the larger cartridge also offers more prints per cartridge.

Since an A3 printer handles papers that are double the size of A4 papers, the size of the printer can be considerably larger and may use higher yield cartridges and the printer costs more than a typical A4 printer. These days, A3 printers can be purchased at a price that is only a slightly higher price than A4 printers.
